May & June Recap
Hello Crude Friends and Families!
What a busy start to the senior season, as well as an amazing finish to the junior spring season! There have been so many amazing things happening for our club, we figured a blog post highlighting everything was necessary!
The junior spring season has already come and gone. It seems it just got started! There were strong showings from all age groups this season! Our mini’s competed on Saturdays and from what I am told, all the festivals were run smoothly and the kids had a blast. Our U13/15 boys and girls competed hard as well on Sundays throughout the spring, working with other clubs to field teams. Shout out to our U15 girls for placing 3rd this season! We want to thank all the parents, coaches and volunteers who helped make this season a great one! We look forward to another season next year, and sooner than that, the fall season! Hope to see everyone out in September!
The senior men’s season started in May, competing in the annual Edmonton Rugbyfest, held at our own fields in Leduc. The men started their season with 2 strong wins against St. Albert and the Clan. Unfortunate close losses and a forfeit put the men at 2-3 for the season so far. They look forward to the rest of their season, hoping to get some more wins under their belt!
The senior women’s season also started in May, competing in the annual Edmonton Rugbyfest over May long weekend. It was a strong showing for the women in the preseason seeding round, going 4-0. Stand out players such as Mikayla Hughes, Melanie Hofstetter and Allison Gaudin help lead the women to these victories. With the season underway, the women put on a strong showing against the Pirates, winning 85-5 in the first regular season game. The women are looking forward to club day on July 20, as well as travelling to GP at the end of July.
Thank you to all of the support so far this season! We look forward to the upcoming months of awesome rugby. Viva LA Crude!
